Opening Night Audience (2004), performance (2h)
Como, Italy
During the opening of an exhibition, the artist was wearing headphones and using a microphone. While moving around the audience, she described the audience’s movement, attitude, and appearance, thus recording the event and her comments on the people.
By reversing the traditional roles of artist and audience the performance became almost invisible - Who’s looking at whom?
The following day, the recording was made available in the gallery, providing a sonic image of the opening.
ONA is part of the Opening Night Audience (ONA) series of performances.
