Master Plan (children's edition) (2014)
Zurich, Switzerland

On June 21, 2014, twenty children (aged 5 to 9 years) participated in the project Master Plan (children’s edition). The work took place at the Kasernenareal, an important historical building in the city center.

In 2018, the police and jail currently using the space will move to a different location and the Kasernenareal will become available for use. This has prompted the city and canton of Zurich to develop a new master plan. Many parties have contributed to it; children, however, were excluded.

The artist took this opportunity to invite children to participate in the new master plan. During a one-hour session she explained the history and current use of the Kasernenareal and asked them to draw their visions for its future. Following the event, the artist submitted a report to the city presenting the drawings and highlighting the importance of children participation in the planning process of land use.

Master Plan (children's edition) was part of The Longest Day, a 16-hours performance art marathon.
